Critical Hits
Need to do something about critical hits. While I'm at it, sneak attacks and Empower Spell.
Doubling the damage dice is fun, but gets pretty tedious when you're doing 5d8+25 damage. A nearly mathematically identical option would be maximizing the dice (5d8+25 = 5*4.5+25 = 27.5, 10d8+25 = 70, 40+25 = 65). What's lost in averages would be gained in simplicity.
But that doesn't work so well for sneak attacks and empowering, both of which work incrementally.
